New Newsletter

Hi All,
I am sorry it's been so long since the last bulletin!! I had problems with my system,
namely, major memory leakage in windoze 95, fixed with a new motherboard. Then to top that
off coollist had problems when I was ready to finally send it off so I waited to be sure
everything was copastatic.
In the meantime I have started another list specifically for search engine placement,
submission and updates of new search engines to submit to. The main function of the list
is to provide updates to the search engine secrets index and to report spamdexers for
inclusion on the "Page of Shame". The list is hosted for free by coollist.com There is a form on the Page of Shame. You can also join on the coollist
frontpage.
The list is a moderated list for discussion and information relative to the list topic
and sent out as warranted.. Since, this is going to both lists here's a little something T
picked up doing multiple submissions by hand. When you're submitting don't use the link to
get back to the add URL page to add the next URL. Instead use the back button this leaves
the form the same way you left it. Therefore, if you start with the index in the directory
you only have to change the filename on each submission not the whole URL.Also, when
you're submitting to Infoseek if the link is blue after your submission the URL was
incorrect or found unsuitable for inclusion(can you say spamdex).
We found this out the hard way after several tries to submit a URL for the search
engine secrets index. Turns out I did too good of a job on the keywords in text. What I
tried was to make a title I could use as the first sentence of the text on the page. Good
idea but just a tad too good! A few changes and we were off to the top of the list! Right
now maintaining about 8 of the top 10 spots on Infoseek. At present the refined method has
resulted in the search engine index making the top ten listings on all major engines but
HotBot which hasn't seemed to spider us yet.
One last note on submission to the search engines always check to see if their spider
had recently visited. While T was at WebCrawler he decided to check out something and was
surprised to see that the spider was at our site re-indexing it that morning. It missed
some as we hadn't put them up as yet so he got to use a form that will enable us to
receive priority. On the WebCrawler pages there is a URL provided to check your status. A
good idea the others should have. Very few do.

Awards and Review Sites to Submit To

Argus Clearinghouse
The "WOD" received a 5 out of 5 rating based on content and navigability. These
sort of sites are gaining in stature as the search engines get clogged with less then top
notch sites.

WebRatings
The "WOD" also received highest marks from WebRatings. This award is being
heavily promoted and the icon can be found on many quality sites.

Whats New In Canada
Reviews sites by Canadian Authors. It is featured in Internet Canada.com the Canadian version of
Internet.com published by Meckler Media. This site is also is promoted heavily. So, my
fellow Canucks head on over soon.

Alexa.com Alexa is a Web navigation service that learns
from people. The service is free to users of the World Wide Web and provides a continuous
source of relevant recommendations of where to go next on the Web. Alexa works in parallel
with and independently of, Web browsers and is displayed as a toolbar on the user's
desktop. One feature I find to be interesting is it archives sites locations so if a site
is unavailable Alexa retrieves an archived copy of the page! You can also list your site
with the service.

Award It
This site is being heavily promoted so if you give an award I suggest gettin' over there
in a hurry. It is administered by the Link Monster group a well known reciprocal link
site. The "WOD" is listed and has already received several submissions. If you
don't give an award go and submit using their multi submit a quick and easy method to get
some nice awards for your site.
I have a tip for you in regards to your awards request form. If you have a newsletter
or some form of free service you're promoting include a request for it in the form.This
method of promotion has helped us to significantly increase our newsletter subscription
base.

InterNetGain
This service gives your position on a single engine but if you subscribe it gives a full
analysis on five including meta tags.Not a bad idea for those having problems choosing
words and phrases. The staff are friendly and helpful as well.

Provides the best search engine position analysis of all the sites I've evaluated on the
net. Also provides a wealth of promotion resources.

The reports produced by this beauty are useful for many of your promotion work. Webmaster
T has reviewed the product and we are currently using it to monitor our positions.

Super Notetab
Recent finalist for its Software category at ZDnet! Great little freeware text editor with
search and replace,a clipboard notebook and best of all a character ruler across the top
which makes keeping track of the number of characters in your metas etc. a breeze.

This link is to the best resource I've found anywhere. Library sums this site up
perfectly.When I began the journey to HTML enlightenment I spent many enjoyable hours here
studying the great tutorials.

Toronto Residents

Webmaster T is developing a new site that will be a virtual community for Toronto
residents to get local info from the net. We are developing it presently and are in dire
need of a graphic artist. Neither the T man nor myself can claim any talent in this field.
It should result in a fair amount of business for you down the road as we plan on
promoting it heavily in the media using T's old media connections and friends in the
